So what was in that bill that she just didn’t have time to read???

1. It cut veterans’ aid program by 66%
2. It provided in-state tuition for illegal aliens at six campuses
3. It eliminated the House provision to bar public colleges from providing special religious facilities for any group
4. It eliminated the House’s tuition freeze provisions

Not only is Shelley willing to recklessly vote however our inner city liberal masters tell her to vote, but she can’t even be bothered to find out what she’s voting on. How can Shelley possibly pretend to represent us when she doesn’t even know what she’s doing?

The salary for the part-time job of state Representative is about $31,000. But Shelley supported changes to provide the following increases.

• She repeatedly supported raising her per diem payments for daily expenses from $66 a day to $77 a day. That’s a lot of Big Macs!!
• And she used that per diem, by taking in $7,168 in per diem payments in 2006 alone. That’s a 23% raise!
• And we have no idea what she spent it on, because she also voted against having to provide receipts for any of it.
• And she doesn’t want you to know what she spent either, because she also voted against putting it online. Pat Kessler of WCCO TV had to dig it up, otherwise we wouldn’t know to this day.
• She opposed saving over $1 million by keeping the starting date of the 2008 session in March rather than February, as had been done in 2004. Apparently she knew she’d need plenty of time to raise your taxes!
• She supported doubling the budget of House Committees. She increased the number of standing committees by 33%. She increased the total number of committees, task forces, panels, etc from 27 to 101. We have more House panels than Minnesota has counties. As a result the Legislative budget rose by 17% but state funding for public schools only went up 3%. Where are her priorities??

Shelley Madore certainly wanted to do good, but she only did well….for herself.

No, instead Shelley Madore joined her inner-city liberal friends by instead giving the money to welfare and legislators themselves.

The schools on the other hand, got an increase that was less than one half of likely inflation for the next two years.

Just where are Shelley’s priorities?? And just who is she representing?? Will the DFL use Shelley Madore as the model for Mr. Mediocrity in this year’s ads??

Shelley Madore opposed an amendment by Rep Randy Demmer (R-Hayfield) which would have preserved the current law which requires each school district to publish a “structurally balanced” budget report which shows how they plan to pay for all expenses for the next few years, including union-negotiated settlements for teacher raises.

Apparently, since few people actually checked the reports, Shelley deems them unnecessary. Isn’t transparency a good thing?? We trust school districts with a lot of tax money, isn’t it reasonable to ask them to tell us how they spend it? And even if the reports aren’t examined by many people, is it not still a good thing to ensure that the school district knows how they are going to pay their bills five years from now?

Just what is it that needs to be hidden from the public??

In this case, Shelley Madore opposed an amendment by Rep. Pat Garofalo (R-Farmington) which would have deleted the bill’s mandatory property tax increases. The bill (H.F. 6) would have raised property taxes on special levies by up to 10% for every pupil in regular school districts.

Shelley broke her promise to not raise taxes on working class families like yours. Rather than making the tough decisions and making sure education got a top priority, she instead chose to raise taxes.

Madore apparently feels that ex-felons, people that have broken our laws, are more worthy of your tax money than young men and women returning from military service. Madore should explain why criminals are more important that military vets to her.

Oh I’m sure she has a good reason, it should be interesting to hear her “rationale”.

However, when Rep. Emmer an amendment to make only legal residents eligible for this government assistance, Madore voted AGAINST it.

Madore apparently feels that not only is it okay that illegal aliens are here (as evidenced by past votes), but she also feels that they shouldn’t be held to legal contracts. And they should receive government assistance despite the fact that they are here illegally!

Legislature required by law to provide quality education, comprehensive health care, living wage jobs, safe and reliable transportation, and a clean and safe environment; constitutional amendment proposed.

Wow…so is ANYTHING still left to the individual and/or the family? So the government is doing everything for us now?? From this Kitchen Sink Amendment, we’re about half a step short of communism.

How about instead of taking all our money to ineffectively and inefficiently provide everything, we leave it in the hands of adults to provide for themselves…in the manner and extent of their choosing?

On April 3, 2008, while debating H.F. 1812, Rep. Olson offered two amendments that essentially would have forced the government to reduce it’s spending when tax revenue goes down. This is probably a familiar concept to most Minnesota families who do this around the dinner table fairly often. When the money runs low, do you go out for a steak dinner or do you stay in and tighten your belt??

Apparently it works differently in the Madore household, as she voted against such common sense.

“But now that it’s been vetted out — he took responsibility quickly, didn’t hide behind the, ‘I didn’t understand,’” she said. “I still believe that he’s a truthful, honest person and that was an oversight,” she said.

“I believe the issues he wants to talk about are the issue I still want to talk about,” said Madore, not backing off her endorsement.

Problem with this is that Franken has NOT taken responsibility and continues to hide behind the claim that he never received repeated letters from the state that he has not paid his taxes. This has been reported quite a bit so an almost intentional avoidance of the facts would be necessary on Madore’s part to continue this manner of defense.

Madore might want to explain to her constituents why she apparently doesn’t see a problem with people avoiding to pay their taxes. Especially when she is so skilled at spending those tax dollars.
