Madore : Lining Her Own Pockets At Our Expense

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Shelley Madore said during the 2006 campaign that her goal was to come to St. Paul and do good. Instead she voted in such a way that she did very, very well…..for herself.

The salary for the part-time job of state Representative is about $31,000. But Shelley supported changes to provide the following increases.

  • She repeatedly supported raising her per diem payments for daily expenses from $66 a day to $77 a day. That’s a lot of Big Macs!!
  • And she used that per diem, by taking in $7,168 in per diem payments in 2006 alone. That’s a 23% raise!
  • And we have no idea what she spent it on, because she also voted against having to provide receipts for any of it.
  • And she doesn’t want you to know what she spent either, because she also voted against putting it online. Pat Kessler of WCCO TV had to dig it up, otherwise we wouldn’t know to this day.
  • She opposed saving over $1 million by keeping the starting date of the 2008 session in March rather than February, as had been done in 2004. Apparently she knew she’d need plenty of time to raise your taxes!
  • She supported doubling the budget of House Committees. She increased the number of standing committees by 33%. She increased the total number of committees, task forces, panels, etc from 27 to 101. We have more House panels than Minnesota has counties. As a result the Legislative budget rose by 17% but state funding for public schools only went up 3%. Where are her priorities??

Shelley Madore certainly wanted to do good, but she only did well….for herself.

Madore Supports Illegals Backing Out Of Legal Contracts

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

The Minnesota Subprime Borrower Relief Act of 2008 was written to basically help out homeowners with sub-prime loans and now could no longer afford to pay for them. Regardless of how one feels about people bailing out of legal contracts and abandoning their personal responsibility, most would agree that only legal residents should be eligible for such government assistance.

However, when Rep. Emmer an amendment to make only legal residents eligible for this government assistance, Madore voted AGAINST it.

Madore apparently feels that not only is it okay that illegal aliens are here (as evidenced by past votes), but she also feels that they shouldn’t be held to legal contracts. And they should receive government assistance despite the fact that they are here illegally!

Makes You Wonder How Madore Balances HER Checkbook

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

It makes you wonder how Madore balances her own checkbook, because she apparently doesn’t believe the state government need to live within it’s means.

On April 3, 2008, while debating H.F. 1812, Rep. Olson offered two amendments that essentially would have forced the government to reduce it’s spending when tax revenue goes down. This is probably a familiar concept to most Minnesota families who do this around the dinner table fairly often. When the money runs low, do you go out for a steak dinner or do you stay in and tighten your belt??

Apparently it works differently in the Madore household, as she voted against such common sense.

Madore, You’re Letting Us Down….With Your Irresponsible Spending!

Madore Supports Franken’s Evasion Of Taxes

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Shelley Madore had this to say about Al Franken’s inability to pay his taxes and ignoring all attempts to alert him to this fact.

“But now that it’s been vetted out — he took responsibility quickly, didn’t hide behind the, ‘I didn’t understand,’” she said. “I still believe that he’s a truthful, honest person and that was an oversight,” she said.

“I believe the issues he wants to talk about are the issue I still want to talk about,” said Madore, not backing off her endorsement.

Problem with this is that Franken has NOT taken responsibility and continues to hide behind the claim that he never received repeated letters from the state that he has not paid his taxes. This has been reported quite a bit so an almost intentional avoidance of the facts would be necessary on Madore’s part to continue this manner of defense.

Madore might want to explain to her constituents why she apparently doesn’t see a problem with people avoiding to pay their taxes. Especially when she is so skilled at spending those tax dollars.

Madore Wants You To Pay For Her Campaign Staff

Wednesday, April 30th, 2008

On Monday, April 28th, the MN House was discussing HF 3376. Rep. Joyce Peppin offered an amendment that would prevent volunteering on political campaigns from being acceptable work in order to collect welfare. Shelley Madore voted against it!

In other words, Shelley would like YOU to pay people (via tax-payer funded welfare) to volunteer on political campaigns. Volunteering on a political campaign is a world of difference between volunteering at an animal rights shelter…although some would (reasonably) argue that politicians are a particularely vile breed of animal.

Should Minnesota taxpayers foot the bill for armies of volunteers, who rather than hold a regular job, would rather volunteer for the politicians who will return to St. Paul to vote them more welfare benefits….using YOUR money?

Shelley Madore certainly thinks so.

Madore Supports Illegal Aliens

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

On March 13th, Shelley Madore helped defeat a motion that would have prevented cities from willingly hiding illegal aliens. Cities like Minneapolis and St. Paul, have sanctuary policies that prevent police officers from asking about immigration status or enforcing immigration laws. This allows illegal aliens, including criminals, to enjoy the sanctuary of the city without the fear of deportation.

HF 3010 would have ended those sanctuary policies and allowed our police departments to protect us by enforcing the law. Instead, Madore voted against a motion that would have brought HF 3010 to a vote. In essence, she voted to allow for status quo of protecting illegal aliens. Rather than allowing police officers to do their job, Shelley would rather hamstring them with sanctuary laws.

Sanctuary policies allow a whole host of problems, including financial, legal and criminal. Problems such as high-crime, over-crowded schools/hospitals and taking jobs which could go to legal Minnesotans. The recent bus crash in Cottonwood demonstrates this isn’t just a Minneapolis/St. Paul problem, but affects ALL of Minnesota, including Apple Valley.

Shelley Madore would rather let us down by giving safe haven to illegal aliens whose very presence is a slap in the face to all law-abiding citizens.

Shelley Madore Has Alot To Be “Proud” Of

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

Recently Shelley Madore sent a letter to her supporters bragging

Last week the Minnesota House met in a marathon stretch of floor sessions to pass all of the major finance bills. After 53 hours of floor debate, just short of a House record - we’re a full two to three weeks ahead of schedule compared with previous legislative sessions.

Apparently she’s proud that she can raise your taxes faster than previous legislators can.

She then went on to highlight some of the bills she is most proud of. However, she left out some of her more “infamous” activities. And because I’m such a nice guy I thought I’d list some of the most interesting ones here.

Here are some things Shelley Madore has done in her short time in the legislature

Hold On To Your Wallets

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

After a week long Easter weekend, Shelley Madore and the rest of the DFL return to the legislature today to pass even more taxes on middle class families like yours.

What tax will they come up with this week?  Stay tuned for the answers.

Shelley Madore’s Mid-Term Grades

Tuesday, March 13th, 2007

The 2007 Legislative Session is half-way over, so how is our Shelley Madore doing?? Not too well. Not too well at all. But because we are caring people let’s take a look at some of the areas she can improve, by examining her voting record.

Items she has voted against

  • An amendment to House File 8, which would have lowered the bottom rate for income taxes, paid by all taxpayers.
  • An amendment giving small businesses and family farms tax breaks those on tribal lands get.
  • An amendment providing a second year of tax relief for working families and employers, which would have matched federal tax incentives.
  • An amendment to increase the education tax credit by the rate of inflation
  • An amendment to prevent voter fraud by requiring voters to show an ID at their polling place
  • An amendment to set an earlier deadline to set the budget target
  • An amendment to give the House more time to consider budget bills, rather than rushing through them.
  • An amendment to protect consumers if the cost of electricity jumps by at least 10 percent
  • An amendment to at least consider the idea of possibly building a new nuclear power plant. Minnesota is the ONLY state with such a ban.
  • Add nuclear power to the list of non-fossil fuels that can be used to meet renewable energy goals.
  • An amendment to allow us to check how many of our tax dollar legislators spend on per-diem expenses, by providing the information online.
  • An amendment requiring legislators to provide receipts for their $77 daily per diem. Life must already be too tough eating on such a constricted budget.
  • An amendment ending the practice of paying for year-round housing for legislators despite the fact that the House only meet for 3 months in 2006. This practice adds almost 50% to a legislators pay.
  • Amendments to have the legislators at least vote before they approved an increase in their per diem to $77 dollars a day.
  • An amendment to ban payments to legislators if they don’t get their work done on time. And this ban didn’t even include living expenses.
  • An amendment allowing all legislators to vote on Budget Resolutions, therefore allowing only the 15 members of the Ways & Means Committee to vote. So much for no taxation without representation.
  • An amendment to provide at least 6 hours notice before the House votes on major finance bills. Just can’t wait to get their hands on our money apparently.
  • An amendment to give legislators at least 48 hours to read spending bills and give 24 hours notice before taking up legislation on the Floor. Apparently they can’t wait even 2 days to spend our money.
  • An amendment to give legislators at least 24 hours to read bills before they are brought to the floor. Heh, why actually read what you’re voting on?
  • An amendment to require a 60% majority to raise taxes.
  • An amendment to delay the start of next year’s session until March 1st, which would save approximately $1.3 million.
  • An amendment to save money and trees by using paperless amendments in the future, since we’ve already given them all a laptop. I thought it was supposed to be Republicans that hated the environment?
  • An amendment requiring the House to obey the Minnesota Constitution by allowing only one subject per bill. We actually have to vote on whether we should follow the Constitution now?? And it gets voted down?
  • An amendment allowing at least one Republican on conference committees that work out differences in bills between the House and Senate. Apparently you only get a say if you’re a Democrat now?
  • An amendment to keep finance bills seperate by only allowing bills to focus on one part of the budget at a time.
  • An amendment to prioritize bills. Heh, why work on the budget when we can talk about our favorite colors and other meaningless topics?

Wow…there certainly are a lot of good things she voted against by following the party line of inner-city liberals.

So what is she actually FOR?? Well….she does want to keep all of the budget surplus for them to spend and then tax us even more. You can’t say she doesn’t stand for something…unfortunately she stands for the tax & spend government desired by inner-city liberals. And here we thought she was OUR representative….even though she doesn’t represent our values.

Shelley Madore … Letting Us Down.

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

In 2006, Shelley Madore barely won the race for State Representative in District 37A over incumbent Lloyd Cybart. This website is a grassroots effort by residents of the area, to show how out of touch Shelley Madore is with the interests of the this House District.

We hope to provide a lengthy and comprehensive example of how much Shelley Madore has been letting down the residents of her district, as she instead serves the will of the inner city liberals.

She’s raising taxes, and killing jobs. She’s driving up the cost of health care for your family. In our schools, she’s defending the status quo, and hurting your kids. Overall, Shelley Madore is letting us down.
