Madore Would Rather Give More Tax Dollars To Felons Than Veterans

June 20th, 2008

On April 17th, 2007, Rep. Tom Emmer proposed an amendment to HF 829 that would have shifted funds which the DFL planned to use for ex-felons and used that money for educational benefits for returning military veterans instead. Madore voted against it!

Madore apparently feels that ex-felons, people that have broken our laws, are more worthy of your tax money than young men and women returning from military service. Madore should explain why criminals are more important that military vets to her.

Oh I’m sure she has a good reason, it should be interesting to hear her “rationale”.

Madore Supports Illegals Backing Out Of Legal Contracts

June 4th, 2008

The Minnesota Subprime Borrower Relief Act of 2008 was written to basically help out homeowners with sub-prime loans and now could no longer afford to pay for them. Regardless of how one feels about people bailing out of legal contracts and abandoning their personal responsibility, most would agree that only legal residents should be eligible for such government assistance.

However, when Rep. Emmer an amendment to make only legal residents eligible for this government assistance, Madore voted AGAINST it.

Madore apparently feels that not only is it okay that illegal aliens are here (as evidenced by past votes), but she also feels that they shouldn’t be held to legal contracts. And they should receive government assistance despite the fact that they are here illegally!

Shelley Madore Wants The Government To Provide EVERYTHING

June 1st, 2008

Shelley Madore co-authored a constitutional amendment that would require:

Legislature required by law to provide quality education, comprehensive health care, living wage jobs, safe and reliable transportation, and a clean and safe environment; constitutional amendment proposed.

Wow…so is ANYTHING still left to the individual and/or the family? So the government is doing everything for us now?? From this Kitchen Sink Amendment, we’re about half a step short of communism.

How about instead of taking all our money to ineffectively and inefficiently provide everything, we leave it in the hands of adults to provide for themselves…in the manner and extent of their choosing?

Makes You Wonder How Madore Balances HER Checkbook

May 31st, 2008

It makes you wonder how Madore balances her own checkbook, because she apparently doesn’t believe the state government need to live within it’s means.

On April 3, 2008, while debating H.F. 1812, Rep. Olson offered two amendments that essentially would have forced the government to reduce it’s spending when tax revenue goes down. This is probably a familiar concept to most Minnesota families who do this around the dinner table fairly often. When the money runs low, do you go out for a steak dinner or do you stay in and tighten your belt??

Apparently it works differently in the Madore household, as she voted against such common sense.

Madore Supports Franken’s Evasion Of Taxes

May 30th, 2008

Shelley Madore had this to say about Al Franken’s inability to pay his taxes and ignoring all attempts to alert him to this fact.

“But now that it’s been vetted out — he took responsibility quickly, didn’t hide behind the, ‘I didn’t understand,’” she said. “I still believe that he’s a truthful, honest person and that was an oversight,” she said.

“I believe the issues he wants to talk about are the issue I still want to talk about,” said Madore, not backing off her endorsement.

Problem with this is that Franken has NOT taken responsibility and continues to hide behind the claim that he never received repeated letters from the state that he has not paid his taxes. This has been reported quite a bit so an almost intentional avoidance of the facts would be necessary on Madore’s part to continue this manner of defense.

Madore might want to explain to her constituents why she apparently doesn’t see a problem with people avoiding to pay their taxes. Especially when she is so skilled at spending those tax dollars.

Madore Votes To Allow Taxpayer Funded Sex-Selection Abortions

May 2nd, 2008

On April 3rd, 2008, while discussing HF 1812, Rep. Holberg offered an amendment which would have prevented taxpayer funds from being used to fund an abortion if that abortion was based solely upon the babies sex. Madore voted AGAINST it.

Many people, including some of Madore’s constituents, find abortion repulsive enough, without the fact that Madore apparently thinks it’s okay to abort a baby just because you wanted a boy rather than a girl (or vice-versa)….and she wants YOUR money to pay for it.

If Shelley believes this is something worth spending your money on, what is NOT worthy of your money?? While it is easy to disagree with Madore on many issues, allowing state funding for an abortion based only on the sex of the child is not only repulsive but downright wrong. The act itself is wrong, much less making the taxpayers foot the bill.

Madore Wants You To Pay For Her Campaign Staff

April 30th, 2008

On Monday, April 28th, the MN House was discussing HF 3376. Rep. Joyce Peppin offered an amendment that would prevent volunteering on political campaigns from being acceptable work in order to collect welfare. Shelley Madore voted against it!

In other words, Shelley would like YOU to pay people (via tax-payer funded welfare) to volunteer on political campaigns. Volunteering on a political campaign is a world of difference between volunteering at an animal rights shelter…although some would (reasonably) argue that politicians are a particularely vile breed of animal.

Should Minnesota taxpayers foot the bill for armies of volunteers, who rather than hold a regular job, would rather volunteer for the politicians who will return to St. Paul to vote them more welfare benefits….using YOUR money?

Shelley Madore certainly thinks so.

With Madore, The Joke Is On You!!

April 2nd, 2008

And unfortunately Madore’s April Fools jokes hurt….right in your pocket book!

Yesterday, Dakota County gave it’s stamp of approval to another one of Shelley Madore’s new taxes on you.  During her last campaign, Madore promised not to raise taxes on the working middle class.  She has broken that promise.  Madore apparently has no problems passing whatever taxes the inner city liberals tell her to impose upon us.

This time the tax is additional sales tax, as well as an excise tax on vehicles.

What will it be next time?? Shelley Madore has already proven there is nothing you have, that she doesn’t want a piece of.  I’m sure Madore will have also sorts of warm fuzzy reasons for her new taxes, even if they happen to be lies.  And there is no promise that your newly taxed money is even going to be spent in this area.

It’s bad enough that in an environment of high gas prices, Madore felt the need to artificially raise the price even more by imposing more taxes on gasoline.  Now with a sluggish economy, it will cost most her residents more just to tread water as virtually anything they do will incur even more in taxes….all thanks to Shelley Madore.

This April Fool’s Day, Madore’s joke is clearly on the taxpayer, except her jokes hurt….right in the wallet.  It should be clear to all voters that come November, it’s time to vote this joker out.

Madore Loves Pork!

March 26th, 2008

Madore had no problem voting for one of the largest tax increases in state history. Other than making up lies to justify her vote, there was also the supposed reasoning that there just wasn’t any room in the budget to pay for transportation needs without raising taxes.

If the budget really is so crammed with critical priority spending that raised taxes were necessary, how did Madore find room to spend $35 million on trivial non-critical items??

This session Madore has proposed the following:

  • $10 Million for the Minnesota Zoological Garden
  • $5 Million for the Minnesota Zoological Garden to plan on implementing their “master plan”
  • $4 Million for a high-speed rail line between St. Paul and Chicago
  • $10 Million to the city of Burnsville to build a Burnsville Performing Arts Center
  • $6 Million to build a Met Council Transit Station

Now each of these projects may very well be worthwhile but in a year where we can’t even find money to pay for critical expenses such as transportation, is this the time to be paying for non-critical items?? Think about that next time you fill up on gas and pay those new taxes.

Defenders might point out that these items are being paid for via bonding. However, when the GOP offered to pay for roads with bonding, DFLers like Madore said it wasn’t fair to make our children pay for our spending. If our children shouldn’t help pay for long term critical infrastructure like roads, how is it that it is fair for them to pay for things like zoological gardens??

Madore Supports Illegal Aliens

March 23rd, 2008

On March 13th, Shelley Madore helped defeat a motion that would have prevented cities from willingly hiding illegal aliens. Cities like Minneapolis and St. Paul, have sanctuary policies that prevent police officers from asking about immigration status or enforcing immigration laws. This allows illegal aliens, including criminals, to enjoy the sanctuary of the city without the fear of deportation.

HF 3010 would have ended those sanctuary policies and allowed our police departments to protect us by enforcing the law. Instead, Madore voted against a motion that would have brought HF 3010 to a vote. In essence, she voted to allow for status quo of protecting illegal aliens. Rather than allowing police officers to do their job, Shelley would rather hamstring them with sanctuary laws.

Sanctuary policies allow a whole host of problems, including financial, legal and criminal. Problems such as high-crime, over-crowded schools/hospitals and taking jobs which could go to legal Minnesotans. The recent bus crash in Cottonwood demonstrates this isn’t just a Minneapolis/St. Paul problem, but affects ALL of Minnesota, including Apple Valley.

Shelley Madore would rather let us down by giving safe haven to illegal aliens whose very presence is a slap in the face to all law-abiding citizens.
